Description:

«Askold-40.2» is a motor boat and is a modified version of «Askold-40». The boat is supposed to be used as a research ship on inland waterways and near-shore areas. The boat has the round-bilge hull and the flat stern. The hull is mainly made of selected ship construction pine and has laminated longitudinal and transverse framing and the clinker planking.

The boat’s design includes the forecastle supplied with two pieces of sleeping accommodation, the pilot’s cabin and the lounge which is used as a laboratory.

The open main desk is found at the stern section.

The engine room with the 43 hp ship diesel engine and the 7 kW diesel generating set is found below the after deck.

The cargo room (hold compartment) and the electric winch to deal with trailed equipment are found on the main deck. The hull fittings include the hydraulically-driven rudder and steering gear, the anchor handling equipment supplied with the 20 kg Bruce anchor and the electric windlass, the mooring fittings and the life lines (the railing).

The hull systems include the drainage system with two manual and two electric bilge pumps, the heating arrangement, the fresh water system and the ventilation system.

The electrical system includes the diesel generating set, accumulator plants, hinged generators of the main engines and the diesel-generator, the charger, the land-based power cable, the navigation lights, inside lighting fittings and the deck surface light.

The navigation facilities include the magnet compass, USB-station and GPS.
