Description:

Schematics of this boat are based on a sketch published in the Guide for Sailing Sport Lovers by G.V. Ash, edited in 1895 in St.Petersburg.

Structure of Soima is similar to a ship boat structure and suitable for severe operating conditions. Soima body has a whale-boat form, i.e. a sharp stern and a sharp prow.  Boat body is made of a selected ship construction pine. Longitudinal frame is made laminated. Facing is clinker planked with copper suds, and ribs are made bent. All metal parts are made of construction steel. All parts are fastened with galvanized bolts and screws. From the outside the boat body is grounded with red lead and covered with enamel. From the inside the body is impregnated with natural boiled linseed oil and covered with varnish. Steel parts have epoxy covering.

Soimas are normally equipped with six double-bank oars, a rudder with a wooden tiller and two mast sprit sailing accessories.

Soima may be additionally equipped with a stationary motor provided with bearing system and remote control. The motor is normally installed in stern and covered with a protective case.
