Description:

«Àskold-65» sailing boat is designed for long pleasure trips on inland water. We attempted to remake a style of the Russian river boat of XV century. A Russian merchant Afanasy Nikitin could start his famous trip “beyond three seas” by this very boat.

Forms of the body are made flat keeled with a sharp stern and a prow with a design drag.

The boat body is made of selected pine on laminated longitudinal frame and carvel planking on futtock ribs.

There are four separate rooms (two ones in a prow part and two ones in the middle part), a crew’s quarters with sleeping berths for four people and an engine room. All rooms are equipped with a latrine. There is a spacey saloon in the additional storey for over than 30 passengers, a galley and a deckhouse. There is also an open cockpit in front of the additional storey.

The boat is equipped with a diesel engine and a diesel generator.

There is a water supply system for fresh water (hot and cold) incl. a 1 m3 tank, an outboard water supply system, a waste removal system and a drain system. Big capacity of fuel tanks (3 cubic meters) ensures good endurance of the boat.

The boat is controlled from the deck house with a steering wheel and a hydraulic steering engine.

The steering system consists of a metal rudder located under the waterline in the diametrical plane and a steering oar, required to create precise ancient style of the boat. Rudder control is made by a steering wheel via steering chain from the deck house, located in the additional storey.

The anchor set consists of the manual windlass, a chain box and a plow type anchor. An oak windlass, cathead and a forged kedge make the boat look ancient styled.

Sailing accessories consist of a straight sail on a mast, located in the front part of the boat, as well as of standing and running rigging, with natural ropes and ancient construction blocks used to complete it. The boat is additionally equipped with eight oars. The rowing is made through the rowing ports in the cockpit.

The electric system includes two accumulators, house and navigation lights, electric switch board, charger and a power supply cable for power supply from the land. There is an additional 12V power net in addition to existing 220V.

We can provide navigation accessories at customer’s request.

The boat may be decorated with carving and painting either from the outside or from the inside like its historical pattern, that makes it look more attractive for tourists.
