Description:

«Àskold-45» sailing boat is designed for pleasure trips on inland water and in near shore areas. The boat was designed in accordance with Viking boat patterns.

The boat body is made of selected pine on laminated longitudinal frame and carvel  planking on trimmed ribs. No deck.

There is a forepick under the prow flooring, that is used for storing of boat accessories, spacey open cockpit with thwarts for passengers, a deck house with crew's quarters and a latrine, that has an additional entry from the deck, a prow flooring with open control place and engine room manhole. There are a main engine and fuel tanks under the flooring.

Steering system is doubled and consists of a wooden steering oar mounted on the stern starboard (the same way they did on Viking boats) and a metal rudder, located under the waterline in center plane.

The rudder is operated with a tiller. There is a binnacle with a magnet compass, main engine board and remote control handle.

Sailing accessories comprises of a35 m2sail, a mast, a yard, standing and running riggings. The sail is made of lavsan, a rigging is made of natural and synthetic ropes. The mast is made hinged to reduce the overall height of the boat.

The boat is equipped with eight single-bank oars. Rowing is made through the rowing perts.

There is a drain system (a manual and an electrical pumps) for the outboard water on the boat.

«Àskold-45» is a quite interesting boat to be used as a tourist or a pleasure one on rivers, lakes and inland gulfs due to its historical view, goods sailing properties, minor draught, simple control and maintenance as well as no need in a big crew.

There are a lot of decorative elements used to create a stylish view of the boat (wooden sculptures on a prow and a stern, sideboard carving, carved parts of boat accessories, shields on the sideboards), that make the boat look pretty attractive for tourists. For this purpose it is also possible to install removable tables and to provide serving with various drinks and food for passengers during the trip in favorable weather or when making stops.
