Description:

«Àskold-38» is a motor-sail boat and is supposed to be used as a pleasure craft, a training ship or as an expedition vessel. Slav boats of the 9-10th centuries were taken as the «Àskold-38» prototypes.

The vessel hull is made of selected ship construction pine and has rounded whale boat lines and the laminated longitudinal and transverse framing. The hull has clinker planking fixed with copper rivets.

The vessel design provides the following:

- fore plating;

- ample cockpit supplied with transverse seats for passengers and rowers;

- deck house with the cook-galley, two pieces of sleeping accommodation and the separate boat toilet;

- aft most plating with the ship-handling station found on it.

The inboard 20 hp diesel engine is installed under the aft most plating.

The boat is equipped with drainage system with two manual and two electric bilge pumps, fresh and outside water system supplied with foot pumps, waste water system with the marine toilet as well as with the steering system, anchor handling equipment and mooring fittings.

The steering control system includes the metal partially balanced rudder and the wooden tiller.

The anchor handling equipment includes the drag anchor, anchor cable and the anchor bitt.

«Àskold-38» is a square-rigged vessel. The square rig includes the stick mast, the sail yard (the cross tree), the sail and the set of the running rope and standing ropes.

Ten double-banked oars as an additional propulsor are available.

The rowing is performed using the oar-ports.

According to the customer preferences, the boat can be decorated with a stern or head figures as well as with shipside carving.
